Reflections on a Year of Progress at Northeast Regional Medical Center
12/27/2024
As we approach the end of 2024, Northeast Regional Medical Center (NRMC) is proud to reflect on a year filled with accomplishments, community partnerships, and unwavering dedication to the health and well-being of our region. We’ve grown, adapted, and expanded to meet the evolving needs of our patients and community.
One of the most notable highlights is our continued investment in surgical technology. We celebrated our 250th robotic-assisted surgery, providing patients with minimally invasive surgical care using advanced techniques to enhance precision and recovery times.
This year has also seen us successfully manage the increased volume of patients seeking emergency care. Our ER continues to be a critical lifeline and serves as the area’s Level III Trauma Center, and we are working tirelessly to meet the growing demand while maintaining the standard of care our community expects.
We have made capital investments improving patient experience and care, including new hospital beds and a new fleet of bassinets to enhance comfort and safety for all who stay with us. The introduction of the Therapy Dog Program supports the psychological and physical well-being of patients. Our updated front entrance landscaping provides a welcoming and peaceful environment for patients and visitors, while our upgraded CT imaging technology and a new MRI system will allow us to offer even more comprehensive diagnostic services. We are also excited to announce the expansion of our oncology services with the addition of radiation oncology capabilities in 2025, broadening our ability to serve patients with cancer treatment options closer to home.
Throughout the year, NRMC has remained deeply engaged with the community. Initiatives like the Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive, which collected over 400 jars of peanut butter for the local food bank. We also provide ongoing support for the United Way and our community through free clinics and educational opportunities that empower individuals to take control of their health.
Our growth and success this year would not be possible without the dedicated healthcare professionals who make NRMC a leader in regional care. We are thrilled to welcome back Dr. Jessica Caine, intensivist, and Dr. Melissa Mann, geriatrician, to our medical team. We continue to invest in the future of medical education with the reinstatement of our internal medicine residency program which is directed by Dr. John DeLeeuw. Their return strengthens our ability to offer services to our patients and further enhances our physician recruitment efforts to meet the diverse needs of our community.
As we close out 2024, we remain grateful for the trust the community places in us and look forward to another year of growth, care, and collaboration. At NRMC, we are more committed than ever to enhancing the health and lives of those we serve.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Patrick Avila, CEO
