Vein Care Center
At Northeast Regional Medical Center, vascular care specialists are trained to deliver care for a range of conditions that affect the arteries and veins, from varicose veins and deep vein thrombosis to atherosclerosis and aneurysm. The vascular medicine team provides diagnostic services, risk-factor management and non-surgical and surgical treatment options, including minimally invasive options when available.
If you have varicose veins, you're not alone. About 50 - 55 percent of women and 40 - 45 percent of men in the United States suffer from some type of vein problem, and varicose veins affect about half of Americans 50 years and older.
Also called venous reflux disease, varicose veins don't go away without treatment. Venous reflux or venous insufficiency develops when the valves that usually keep blood flowing out of your legs become damaged or diseased. This may cause the blood to flow poorly, to pool and swell, or to even cause ulcers on the skin.
Northeast Regional Medical Center specializes in a minimally invasive catheter treatment option that usually offers less pain and bruising than traditional vein stripping and laser procedures. With this procedure, many patients are able to resume normal activities within one to two days.
